About us
AGRO AG presents an innovative, pioneering and extensive portfolio of cable glands and accessories for the machinery, plant and equipment manufacturing industry. At its centre is the multi-variant Progress® product range, whose groundbreaking compression technology ensures excellent sealing performance and effective strain relief. Progress® cable glands are available in a variety of designs – and of lead-free brass as required – with 360° shield contact or with multiLAYER sealing inserts. These are supplemented by the Syntec® product range with its segmental ring technology for cable gripping. The modular design enables small-quantity customer-specific requirements to be met cost-effectively and at short notice. AGRO also supplies certified versions of such products for use in explosion protection zones, rail vehicles and drinking water applications. The innovative EVolution EMC cable gland, developed by the manufacturer for the e-mobility sector, offers 360° shielding. AGRO's product range also includes the world's first adapter plate for the feed-through of cables in rail vehicles. Highly robust multi-cable entries, pressure balance elements, and cable protection conduits of plastic or metal, round off the portfolio.
The Swiss company AGRO AG has been developing and manufacturing high-quality cable entry and cable installation solutions since 1953. With its numerous innovations and patents, it is a pioneer in the field of cable glands. The company, based in the town of Hunzenschwil in Aargau, Switzerland, employs around 120 people and since 2002 has been part of the KAISER GROUP. With a product range of more than 7,000 items and its own VDE-certified testing laboratory, the requirements of manufacturers and trade professionals are comprehensively covered. AGRO has a network of expert distributors in 40 countries around the world to serve the industry, and a subsidiary in Shanghai for the Chinese market.

Multi Cable Entry MCE
To date, the multiple-cable-entry solutions available on the market have proved unsatisfactory for many users. Either they do not achieve the required values in relation to sealing or strain relief, or their installation is time-consuming – a fact that quickly becomes apparent in the overall cost analysis. AGRO has been developing and manufacturing high-quality cable glands in accordance with EN 62444 for over 65 years. The know-how gained from this in relation to radial compression fabrication of sealing items is now being used for the fi rst time in cable feedthroughs. The specially-designed and reliable strain relief, together with the use of tested sealing units make MCE an innovative, extremely robust and dependable cable entry system. Summary of AGRO MCE’s advantages: • High tightness IP 68 • Absolute process reliability • Resists high pull-out forces according EN 62444 • Quick, economical installation • Extremely robust and versatile • No supplementary materials or lubricants required

Pressure balance element with membrane of A4 stainless steel
The impact-resistant innovation with high-performance membrane. The clever, compact and innovative solution prevents pressure differences, temperature fluctuations and condensation in electrical and electronic housings. AGRO’s new, innovative pressure balance element facilitates quick and reliable air exchange and ensures the housing stays dry inside. Whether traffic control and signalling technology, street lighting, railway vehicles, distributor housings for energy distribution, or solar energy systems: they must all withstand wind and weather, heat and rain. The same applies to their electronics and electrics. Air pressure, temperature and humidity are constantly changing. Sealed housings are never completely sealed. Many electrotechnical housings are watertight and dust-tight (IP 68) but not gas-tight. Changing temperatures can thus produce a pressure difference, causing air exchange. This leads to condensation, which can result in corrosion and defects/malfunctions. This is prevented by installing AGRO pressure balance elements. AGRO has developed a new, innovative pressure balance element of A4 stainless steel (EN 1.4404 / AISI 316L) for use in stainless housings (patent pending), which is unsurpassed in terms of robustness and offers the highest impact resistance in accordance with IEC EN 62262, Class IK10. High-quality materials combined with innovative design A high-performance membrane ensures rapid, reliable air exchange with outstanding flow rates. It is made of PTFE (polyterafluoroethylene) and has pores that are bigger than water vapour molecules but smaller than water droplets. The water- and oil-repellent membrane offers a very high degree of protection: IP66 / IP68 (0.5bar/1h) / IP69 / IP6K9K. The wide temperature range, from -40 °C to +150 °C, is another highlight of the new pressure balance element. The product features an M12x1.5 entry thread. The membrane is RoHS- and REACH-compliant, and free of PFOA and PFOS.

Pressure balance elements
As a result of warming, from either the sun’s radiation or the enclosed electronics, pressure differences develop between the housing and its surrounding environment, which result in the transfer of air from one to the other. Air drawn into the housing carries moisture, which condenses when the temperature drops below the dew point. The water which is now trapped in the enclosure can lead to corrosion and equipment failures. To prevent pressure differences, high humidity and condensation of water in the housing, constant balancing of pressure and Exchange of air is needed. The use of AGRO pressure balance elements in electrical and electronics housings allows efficient pressure balance and ventilation, and if necessary, drainage. A new pressure balance element for increased safety Ex e II with membrane is now available.
