Gaskets and gasketing sheets

Flat gaskets are always used when two flat surfaces have to be sealed statically. A typical example are piping systems with flange couplings and frame components with flat surfaces. There are almost no limits to the shape of these gaskets and thus to the requirements that can be met with in terms of media, temperatures and pressure. And as varied are the materials used, ranging from cork and rubber to high tech plastic materials and compound materials (for instance, plastic/metal), up to graphite and metal/graphite.

Kubo now offers cost-effective O-rings with virtually unlimited inner diameters and all the properties of a standard O-ring.

PROLAST-O® - HIGH PERFORMANCE FFPM SEALS

In specific application areas with agressive media and high temperatures, standard elastomers like NBR, Viton® or EPDM cannot stand up to the requirements any more. Perfluorelastomers are top-class materials. They are extremely resistant against acids, amines, bases, ultra-pure de-ionized water, vapour, solvents and detergents. Even at high temperatures, seals made of Prolast-O® remain operational and therefore prolong the maintenance intervals and increase safety. KUBO produces seals made of FFPM/FFKM Prolast-O® for the highest requirements on its own premises in Effretikon, near Zurich. Radial and axial shaft seals, mechanical seals

The sealing of a moving shaft presents a special situation. In addition to the static sealing on one side of the seal, we have to seal the moving shaft. According to the installation, the sealing can be made radially or axially. The proper seals have to be deployed in this complex requirement. Possible seals range from simple shaft seals until compression loadable PTFE lip seals or mechanical seals.

Packings

Packing glands belong to the oldest sealing elements. No other sealing type has reached the huge variety of their fields of applications to this day. With packings, it is possible to seal safely static and dynamic stroke or rotation movements in a wide range of temperatures and pressures. Thanks to the still ongoing development of new materials, the range of applications that can be covered with packings is still growing. And last but not least, packings are an low priced solution.

Isolation materials

Isolation materials reduce the diffusion of heat. They are thus deployed where energy has to be saved or where the environment has to be protected from a heat source. In the broadest sense, they therefore are seals, whereupon the "medium" - unlike the traditional sealing situations - is the heat, which has to be stemmed. For our products, only fibres of glass and silicon oxide are used. Isolations made of these materials are harmless for health.

PTFE Products

PTFE is a high tech plastic with extraordinary properties. PTFE means Polytetrafluoroethylene. This material has become famous especially under the trademark Teflon of DuPont. Two of the excellent characteristics are the chemical resistance and the physiological innocuousness unrivalled by the other plastics. The temperature resistance also reaches very good values, i.e. almost 300 °C, and the conductivity values as well. Thus, this material is not only very appropriate for seals but also for technical components of every kind in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food processing industry.

Profiles

Profiles can be produced in any geometry, according to the use and depending on the used materials. In our assortment we have a number of standard profiles for industry use. On top of these relatively simple products we offer also high tech profiles, in particular inflatable seals. They are available for example in silicone with integrated silver ions. This material prevents the development of bacteria and micro-biofilm, thus improving the process reliability. They are of particular interest for the pharmaceutical and the food processing industries.
