The automation level in the food, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals markets is developing rapidly due to the adaptation of new solutions globally. The acceptance is increasing thanks to the obvious benefits of automation, such as improved product hygiene and employee safety. Heightened consumers' expectations and legislative agency regulations also force manufacturers to re-evaluate their processes, but there are still some reasons why they choose not to invest. Currently, manufacturing plants often consist of separate silos of automation where process steps are not entirely connected. One of the main concerns against the adaptation is the organisation's lack of acceptance of new technologies. A high fluctuation rate and the scarcity of trained, competent operators or technicians makes it difficult to take the leap. Therefore, all new equipment introduced must be as user-friendly as possible in order to decrease employee onboarding time and to reduce the possibility of human error. Piab has taken all the above requirements into account when they developed their new product series, called the piFLOW® Batch Volume Optimisation, besides their standard piFLOW® vacuum conveyor range. The Batch Volume Optimisation functionality is easy to maintain, compliant with industry standards, and enhances productivity dramatically. The vacuum conveyor takes solids from a pickup point and releases them into a receiving vessel or a piece of equipment in batches. Batch Volume Optimisation features a level sensor. Once the conveyor is filled up by each cycle, the sensor automatically triggers the release process. This way, operators can set the conveyor up quickly, and the automatic level sensing adds an extra layer of safety, which protects the equipment from unplanned maintenance.

The patented dosing valve for industrial lubricants is the result of several years of experience in developing and producing components in the field of volumetric lubricant dosing. The impulse dosing valve is in its element wherever lubricant quantities have to be dosed with positional accuracy and in a precise volume. It is controlled by a monostable, quick-acting pneumatic valve and achieves up to 20 dot-shaped doses per second. Different dosing volumes are therefore possible with a corresponding number of controls with only one IDV without significant loss of time.

Product overview With the new integrated, magnetic measuring system "IMScompact", Rexroth expands their product range of integrated measuring systems and thus opens up an extended area of application for linear position measurement systems. With minimal spatial requirements, i.e. the new construction size 15, a maximum measuring length of up to 17.8 meters across rail joints, with absolute versions which are suited for the drive-integrated safety technology (in preparation) as well as with a simplified assembly, the new IMScompact series supplements the highly precise IMS inductive measuring system in many areas of automation technology, wood and plastic processing, processing of metal sheets, linear direct drive technology and general machinery. nductive ring sensors are used in feeding technology to detect metallic parts such as screws or nuts as they are transported through tubes. Objects are identified at speeds of up to 35 m/s, regardless of their size. This enables precise counting and efficient flow control. Blockages, standstills or incorrect conveyance (no part or several parts at once) can be reliably detected.

Inductive sensors detect metallic objects through electromagnetic induction. They can accurately measure distances and thicknesses, making them ideal for use in harsh industrial environments. They ensure reliable position monitoring of metallic objects and work reliably even under difficult conditions. Because no moving parts are used in inductive sensors, they are maintenance-free, waterproof and impervious to contamination and impacts. They offer a wide range of applications due to their resistance to vibrations, their diverse designs and robust housing materials as well as their long switching distances.

The best price/performance ratio in factory automation: autosen's Standard Class inductive sensors cover all standard applications in factory automation – reliable, available from stock and orderable online directly with a 5.5 % price advantage. The series offers all common standard designs: cylindrical metal housings with M8, M12, M18 and M30 threads, short Ø 6.5 mm cylindrical bodies for tight installation spaces, and cuboid designs for flat-surface mounting. Flush and non-flush mountable versions are available with sensing ranges from 2 to 40 mm. Switching outputs are available as normally open (NO), normally closed (NC) and antivalent. Connection is made either via M8 or M12 plug or via a permanently attached 5 m PVC cable with open end. All devices in the series carry IP67 protection.
