Network technology - Steer Your Data in the Right Direction
Industrial communication networks are the backbone of digitization Machine and system communications are rapidly increasing. Networks act as a lifeline for data streams. To guarantee successful digitization you have to have powerful and reliable network technology. You need to ask if the communication network is strong enough to handle the increase in flexible applications and find out what the prerequisites are to reliably network a combination of classic and/or digital devices. Finally, you need to know if the application is ready for future advances in data communication. The design, planning and implementation of industrial communication networks requires an in-depth knowledge of automation technology and takes into consideration the main requirements for networking data – reliability, openness and flexibility. Murrelektronik knows it is not only the ability to provide components, which range from basic switches all the way up to the latest in POE technology and the cables to connect them, that matters but also the ability provide support and tips to help our partners optimize data flow while reducing their wiring efforts. Sharing knowledge, presenting options (including their pros and cons) and explaining the "point of use" for the components allows you to see industrial networks as a whole and highlights the added value of the chosen solution.

Neugart extends Economy series PLQE and PLFE by smaller frame sizes
PLQE040 The PLQE040 with frame size 040 complements the successful Economy planetary gearbox series PLQE, for which a total of four frame sizes between 040 and 120 are now available. With a centering collar diameter on the output side of just 35 mm, the newcomer presents itself as a true "mini powerhouse" in the Economy family. Depending on the gear ratio, it can transmit nominal torques of up to 20 Nm. The total length of the gearbox, incl. adapter, is just over 9 cm, depending on the selected motor adapter. As on all PLQE gearboxes, the square output flange of the PLQE040 allows uncomplicated mounting on the system without intermediate adapters. Despite its small size, the new PLQE gearbox has high-performance deep groove ball bearings on the output shaft, so that considerable radial forces of up to 390 newtons can still be absorbed here. It is offered with 24 different gear ratios from i=3 to i=512 and is available with either a smooth output shaft or a keyed shaft. PLFE055 With the new PLFE055, the PLFE Economy gearbox series with a flanged output now offers four frame sizes, starting at 055. This newcomer is available in 1- and 2- stage versions and with gear ratios from i=3 to i=100. The centering collar diameter here is 5.5 cm and, depending on the gear ratio, can transmit torques of up to 32 Nm. The support spacing of the deep groove ball bearings on the output side largely corresponds to the larger model PLFE064, so that the PLFE055 can support almost the same radial forces and breakdown torque despite its more compact dimensions. Its flange interface makes it particularly easy to install.

Exceptionally high speed and dynamics With its speed and torque, the new AM3248 stepper motor from FAULHABER raises the bar in terms of performance and dimensions. Offering up to 10,000 rpm, it can achieve five times the speed of comparable stepper motors. Combined with a gearhead reduction of 100:1, it supplies a torque of 5 Nm. The motor delivers these values with a diameter of just 32 mm. This makes it ideally suited for a wide range of applications in areas such as aerospace, laboratory automation, large optical systems, the semiconductor industry, robotics and 3D printing. The multi-pole, two-phase AM3248 stepper motor performs 48 steps per revolution and offers a very high holding torque of 85mNm. The motor starts with a high speed from the very first step; thanks to its low inertia, it can be used in applications that require very fast acceleration and fast changes of direction. Newly developed large ball bearings further extend the already long service life of this motor type. For its size class, the performance values that it achieves in combination with a 32 GPT gearhead are unrivaled on the market. The motor can also be combined with an IE3 magnetic encoder. These properties and options make the motor ideally suited for a variety of demanding applications. This includes aligning the solar panels of satellites, for example. The motors move the booms so that the panels are always directly facing the sun. In addition to working precisely and reliably over many years, the motors must also be able to withstand the extreme temperatures in outer space. In the semiconductor industry, very high dynamics and speed are required when positioning the wafers in very confined installation conditions in the machines. This is another application in which the highest level of precision and reliability are essential.
