    6. Auto-Tuning for Servo Drives MDD 2000

Auto-Tuning for Servo Drives MDD 2000

The auto-tuning function in the software tool LASAL from SIGMATEK accelerates the commissioning of servo axes for the MDD 2000 enormously. Instead of time-consuming parameterization and multiple re-adjustments of current, speed, and position controllers, optimization now takes place at the touch of a button. Automatic Controller Optimization Parameterization is fully automated in the PLC and in the drive itself and covers the entire control chain: the parameters for the current controller, the speed controller, the position controller, and the torque feedforward control. The MDD 2000 servo drive records the necessary measurement data, and the PLC performs the mathematical evaluation. This includes Discrete Fourier Transforms (DFT) including the calculation of Bode diagrams using Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA), as well as the setting, optimization, and validation of the controller parameters according to specified criteria. For the user, autotuning is conveniently accessible via a visualization object (VOV). The user selects the control loop to be tuned, defines the tuning range, and starts the fully automatic run. The tuning is performed by the algorithm without any further intervention by the user. Synchronous Tuning of Multiple Axes In complex machines, it is often necessary to coordinate several drives in parallel. Here, a higher-level class in LASAL CLASS ensures that all axes involved start synchronously, perform their measurements, and then receive the new parameters. With auto-tuning, a powerful tool is available that enables machines to be ready to start faster, increases control quality, and prevents operating mistakes.

    7. Autonomous Mobile Robots

      Autonomous Mobile Robots

MiR's driverless transport systems are so-called autonomous mobile robots (AMR). Compared to conventional AGVs, AMRs offer the advantage that they orientate and navigate independently by means of sensors and cameras and are thus very flexible in route finding. They independently avoid people or objects and orient themselves on a recorded map of the surroundings. This makes AMR's the best choice for entering the world of driverless transport systems. You do not have to make any adjustments to the infrastructure in your production.

    8. Big step towards data-driven maintenance

      Big step towards data-driven maintenance

Schöck Bauteile GmbH, based in Baden-Baden, is an internationally operating company with over 900 employees specializing in innovative construction solutions for preventing thermal bridges and improving construction quality. As part of its digitalization strategy, Schöck has been using SAP PM for the structured planning and documentation of maintenance measures since 2017. In 2022, SAP MM was also integrated for spare parts logistics. However, the SAP processes were only available via stationary PC workstations – a hindrance for mobile maintenance technicians. To resolve this bottleneck, Schöck decided to introduce the argvis; Maintenance Portal in 2024. The goal was to increase employee efficiency, improve data quality, and establish robust reporting. After an intensive market analysis, the company chose argvis because of its solution's compelling SAP standard interface, individual adaptability, choice of operation (cloud or remote), and compelling cost-benefit ratio. The project progressed quickly: From contract signing to go-live, only ten weeks passed. Today, ten foremen and master technicians, twelve maintenance technicians, and four other maintenance colleagues in Baden-Baden use the system on their mobile devices – for notification recording, documentation, material retrieval, and evaluations. The advantages: more precise feedback, time savings, better documentation, and optimized task allocation via the planning board. Rollout to additional plants in Essen and Halle is planned for 2025. The conclusion: The introduction of the argvis; Maintenance Portal takes Schöck a major step further on the path to data-driven maintenance – with tangible added value for employees and management.
